8 Low-Cost Tips for Creating a Relaxing Bedroom

After the bedrooms of many people are decorated, they look very clean and tidy, but they always feel that something is missing - there is no such feeling that makes one want to dive into it and relax. In fact, it's not a problem of budget; it's mainly because some small details were not done well. Today, I have compiled eight tips to avoid common mistakes in bedrooms to prevent people from blindly following trends. By doing the following points, the sophistication of the bedroom will be directly enhanced.

Choosing the right size of bedding can help you effortlessly create a relaxed atmosphere.

A 1.8-meter bed. Don't use a 2×2.3-meter quilt. If you want a sense of draping, simply choose a 2.2×2.4-meter quilt. For a 1.5-meter bed, pair it with two 2.3-meter quilts. The wide quilt will naturally fall down, instantly creating a relaxed atmosphere in the bedroom.

It is not advisable to use large areas of glossy tiles in the bedroom, as it would make the room feel cold and sterile, like a hotel room. Instead, opt for wooden floors or tiles with wood grain, which have a more gentle texture. Avoid using all-white or cold gray tones for the walls; choose warm white or light warm tones. Adjust the lighting according to the natural light in the house to make it soft but not overly harsh.

The headboard should not be a large, heavy and soft one. Such a design would make people feel depressed and bloated. It is better to choose simple and lightweight products. The walls should be painted in light warm tones. The headboard can be in a darker color as a contrast, such as black, grape purple, or dark green. When the colors are combined in different shades, it will create a sense of sophistication.

Try not to use glossy door panels for the wardrobe. The entire house should use matte materials to reduce the awkwardness caused by the cabinet. Coupled with exquisite small handles, it enhances the texture. Leave space on the side of the wardrobe for hanging clothes, which is specifically used to store clothes left over from the previous day. If the space is small, a wall-mounted clothes hanger or a floor-standing bracket can be installed.

It is not advisable to hang decorative paintings with strong reflective effects on the bedside, nor to hang large-scale wedding photos, as this may make the room look too cheap. Instead, use matte small-sized wall paintings, either in vertical style or two horizontal ones. This will create a simple and elegant atmosphere. There is no need to lay a large carpet at the foot of the bed; it would be troublesome to clean. A small foot blanket will suffice.

Do not use cold gray for the bedroom door, as it will disrupt the overall atmosphere of the space. You can choose a door of the same color as the wall, or opt for a dark walnut door. The color of the baseboard, door casing, and window casing should be consistent. The ceiling should be finished with a 45-degree beveled edge method; the color of the curtains should be similar to the wall, and the curtain tracks use an interlocking style, providing good light-blocking but not light-transmitting properties.

Don't install fluorescent lights on the bedside. They can be very harsh when you lie down. The ceiling can be decorated with reflective light strips. There are hidden light strips inside the curtain box, making it so that you can see the light but not the lamp itself. Coupled with double-layer lighting designs such as table lamps and floor lamps, the atmosphere becomes very strong.

Don't buy the set of bedside cabinets that comes with the bed, as it will look rather monotonous. Choose a style that contrasts with the color of the bedhead to make it more lively. For small-sized rooms, a small trolley can be used instead, which won't cover the cabinet doors. The space at the end of the bed can be made into a combined cabinet for makeup storage and a chest of drawers, to keep cosmetics. And by adding decorative items such as table lamps, ceramic ornaments, and dried flowers, your mood in the morning will be much more cheerful.
